The Importance of Testing Your System
Imagine a car sitting idle for three years or a home left vacant for five – would you expect everything to work perfectly? This analogy perfectly illustrates the importance of testing your home security system regularly. In emergencies, there are no second chances; your security system must function flawlessly.
Why Test Your Home Security System?
Just like any mechanical equipment, your home security system needs periodic testing to ensure optimal performance. This video will guide you through the process of testing your system effectively, ensuring it works when you need it most.
How to Test Your Home Security System
Contact our monitoring station at 1-800-381-2693 to put your system in ‘Test’ mode.
Arm the system, then open connected doors/windows and wait for the alarm.
Disarm and call back the alarm station to confirm signal receipt and exit ‘Test’ mode.
Sensor & Motion Detector Testing:
- Ensure your system is in ‘Ready’ mode.
- Test each sensor and motion detector individually, checking the panel’s response.
Carbon Monoxide & Smoke Detector Testing:
- Regular monthly testing is crucial.
- Use the ‘test’ button, and if unresponsive, change batteries or contact the provider.
- Consider using canned smoke for a more thorough test.
